Q: How does sending Pages through the Enterprise Paging Gateway differ from sending text messages through the Consumer Gateway?
A: The Enterprise Paging Gateway offers significantly enhanced notification capabilities over consumer-grade messaging offerings available from AT&T and other carriers. The AT&T Enterprise Paging service adds enhanced paging functionality such as long messages up to 456 characters, delivery receipts and 2-way messaging, and supports the following paging protocols: TAP, SNPP, SMTP and WCTP.
Q: What length message can be sent using the AT&T Enterprise Paging service?
A: Messages up to 456 characters long may be sent using the SNPP and WCTP protocols. Messages up to 420 characters long may be sent using the SMTP protocol. Messages sent using the TAP protocol are limited to 160 characters.
Q: How do I deploy Enterprise Paging at my company?
A:
1) To activate Enterprise Paging for your business, contact your AT&T account representative directly, or you may also contact AT&T Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500 or simply dial 611 from your wireless device (within domestic USA) and ask the representative to add the Enterprise Paging feature to your plan.
2) Once you've added the feature to all your recipients' AT&T accounts, update your paging application with the address of the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway. See the Table below for the list of paging gateway addresses.
3) Update the address of the recipients to use their 10-digit AT&T phone number when submitting messages to the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway.
Q: How does the service work?
A: Customers typically configure their enterprise paging application to use either SNPP or WCTP as the primary method of submitting pages to the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway, and the TAP protocol is typically used as an automatic fallback if for some reason internet connectivity is unavailable. Once the company's enterprise paging application has connected to the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway, the AT&T 10-digit phone number is used as a recipient address for the page. The AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway then transmits the page into the core AT&T network. The page is then delivered to the destination device.
If a delivery receipt was requested, the receipt is then automatically posted back to the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway for retrieval by the company's enterprise paging application. Replies are automatically routed back to the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway for retrieval by the company's enterprise paging application.

*To retrieve delivery receipts and two-way messages via WCTP you must obtain a senderID/pollerID and SecurityCode from this site: http://www.enterprisepaging.com/pollerid
Q: What modem settings should I use with the TAP protocol?
A: Modem configuration should be set to 9600 baud and E,7,1 or N,8,1
TAP troubleshooting tips
Q: What is the WCTP PollerID, SenderID and SecurityCode?
A: When the WCTP protocol is used in enterprise mode, a pollerID and security code are required to retrieve delivery receipts and replied to pages submitted to the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway. WCTP client mode does not require a pollerID/SecurityCode combination, but not all paging applications support that mode of operation. PollerID and SenderID can be used interchangeably. Paging applications which require PollerID include VyTek TelAlert and Emergin Communication Gateway. Paging applications which use the client mode and do not require PollerID include Omnitrend Pagemaster and Invoq Alarmpoint. You can obtain a WCTP pollerID/senderID at http://www.enterprisepaging.com/pollerid.
Q: Which paging applications are supported?
A: AT&T has worked closely with the leading paging application providers in developing the Enterprise Paging service. The AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway is built to support enterprise communications, and is compatible with most industry standard paging protocols and enterprise paging applications. The AT&T Enterprise Paging Certified Solution Program lists those providers who have joined our Certified Solution Program and had their applications tested and certified with the AT&T Enterprise Paging Gateway. Q: What devices does the paging service work with?
A: The AT&T Enterprise Paging service works with all AT&T text messaging capable devices. This encompasses most devices sold by AT&T over the last several years. GSM devices provide an enhanced user experience when receiving long messages (>160 characters).
Q: Where can I use the Enterprise Paging service?
A: The AT&T Enterprise Paging service works anywhere your AT&T device is capable of sending and receiving Text Messages. This includes the AT&T network and our domestic and international roaming networks. Visit the AT&T Converage Viewer to see coverage in your area.
Q: What does it cost?
A:
Individual Pricing Plans
The most common way of deploying Enterprise Paging is by adding an individual feature to each AT&T recipient’s account. This allows the recipient to receive messages sent via the Enterprise Paging gateway (using SNPP, WCTP, SMTP or TAP) or messages sent via the AT&T Business Notification Center website. Basic access can be added at a low cost per month and can be combined with any AT&T text messaging plan, or there are several messaging bundles that include enough messages to meet each recipient’s specific messaging needs.See pricing information and terms & conditions.
Bulk Pricing Plans
Unlike the individual pricing options below, Bulk Pricing enables corporate customers to purchase their entire Enterprise Paging service on a single account rather than purchasing the service separately for individual accounts. Bulk Pricing for Enterprise Paging allows a business to purchase licenses in bulk to use for provisioning any AT&T phone number with Enterprise Paging. In other words, even if your employees/contractors pay their own monthly phone bill, you can still include their phone number on your list of recipients. An administrative website is provided to manage the AT&T phone numbers, giving the administrator centralized control and the flexibility to add and remove AT&T phone numbers from the list of recipients to keep up with a changing work environment.
